Overview of Triund and Mcleodganj

An approachable trip into the beautiful Himalayas is available in Himachal Pradesh’s Triund. 2.Dharamshala Cricket Stadium

The beautiful Dharamshala Cricket Stadium, also known as the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium, is located in the shadow of the magnificent Himalayan mountain range. One of the highest sports venues in the world, it is situated in the Kangra valley at a height of 1,457 masl, amidst the Dhauladhar mountain range. 

The Indian Cricket Team, the Himachal Pradesh state cricket team, and the Kings XI Punjab team from the Indian Premier League (IPL) frequently practice at the Cricket Stadium, which is run under the supervision of HPCA.

The stadium is open to visitors even when there are no planned games, and it has a vista similar to that of the Adelaide Oval or Newlands. Tibetan architectural design was used to construct the main stand.

It can accommodate up to 23,000 spectators and includes a number of contemporary conveniences for holding cricket matches at the national and international levels. 

The fact that there is no fence in front of the seating section, allowing for an unimpeded view of the sport, may be the nicest aspect of witnessing a game at the magnificent Dharamshala Cricket Stadium.

3.Library of Tibetan Works and Archives

About Library of Tibetan Works and Archives 

Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th Dalai Lama, established the Library of Tibetan Works and Archives, a Tibetan library in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh. It is a pioneering institution in the study and investigation of Buddhism, with artifacts and texts from the 12th century. Tibetan wisdom has been disseminated thanks to the calm, serene atmosphere that permeates visitors to this unusual museum.

4.Namgyal Monastery

About Namgyal Monastery in Mcleodganj

The Namgyal Monastery in Mcleodganj, the largest Tibetan temple outside of Tibet, is thought to be the place where the Dalai Lama, the head of the Tibetan people, resides. Even people who are not inclined towards this faith can be drawn in by the atmosphere and serenity that this location fosters in the minds of its guests. Since the Namgyal Monastery is the 14th Dalai Lama’s personal monastery, it is frequently referred to as “Dalai Lama’s Temple.”

The second Dalai Lama established Namgyal Monastery in the 16th century, intending for the monks to assist him in religious matters. The monks who live here in the monastery perform rituals for the welfare of Tibet and serve as a hub for study and meditation on Buddhist philosophy.

5.The War Memorial

Overview of War memorial Dharamshala

To honor the remembrance of those who sacrificed their lives to defend our homeland, the War Memorial in the Dharamshala forests was built. Many valiant Kangra troops died as war heroes in the Indo-China Wars of 1947–1948, 1962–1965, and 1971, as well as during UN Peace Operations. They have left behind three enormous panels of black stone, each measuring 24 feet in height.

6.St John in the Wilderness Church

13.Tibetan Museum

15.Indrahar Pass Trek

About Indrahar pass Trek

The most attractive trail begins in Mcleodganj, travels through Lahesh and Triund Caves, and lasts around 14 kilometers one way on the hike to Indrahar Pass.

16.Kangra Fort

Overview of Kangra Fort

The Kangra Fort, which is located on the outskirts of Kangra in the Himachal Pradesh state, has seen thousands of years of splendor, invasion, conflict, prosperity, and evolution. The ancient Trigarta Kingdom, which is referenced in the Mahabharata epic, is where this powerful fort got its start. The earliest dated fort in India, it is the biggest fort in the Himalayas. It used to be one of the top hill resorts in Punjab and Himachal, occupying the lower valley of the Beas and its tributaries.

“You have to go through the leg of the gate first. Never lead with your head because you can lose it if there is an enemy on the other side. This advice from Tikaraj Aishwarya Katoch, the current scion of the Katoch family, refers to the strict security that the monarchs kept up in the fort to guard the incredible treasures inside. 

There was a time when the Kangra Fort’s sanctum sanctorum had unfathomable riches that were offered to the big idol in the fort’s Brijeshwari temple, even though the stories of these treasures are now nothing more than legends in this destroyed fort. The reason this enormous fort has been attacked so frequently may be related to these valuables.Nearly every king—whether an invader or a native king—has attempted to establish authority over the Kangra fort.

Raja Sansar Chand-II was the one who ultimately succeeded in reclaiming the historic fort from the Mughals in 1789 after Jahangir had brutally conquered it in 1622. In the end, it was given to the British, who remained in control of it up until the April 4, 1905 earthquake severely devastated it. Although it is now entirely destroyed, the building previously stood as an architectural wonder. The Kangra fort itself is a representation of grace and majesty.

17.Kalachakra Temple

Overview about Kalachakra Temple

In Mcleodganj, close to Dharamsala, the Kalachakra Temple, a well-known Tibetan temple, is part of the Thekchen Chöling temple complex. It was constructed in 1992. The beautiful murals of Kalachakra (Wheel of Time), which are connected to the Avalokitesvara, of whom the Dalai Lama is a manifestation, are housed in the shrine on the west side of the Tsuglagkhang Temple. The beautiful temple, which the Dalai Lama himself uses as a venue for public instruction, is an architectural wonder that showcases Tibet’s diverse ethnic heritage and artistic prowess.

The temple’s pillars and walls are embellished with a number of exquisite traditional Tibetan Thangka paintings. In addition to this, the temple also features a statue of Shakayamuni Buddha, which is encircled by beautiful fresco paintings of 772 gods and goddesses from the mandala. A central Kalachakra picture is also there. The temple complex, which is well-known as one of the most well-liked places of religious pilgrimage in Dharamsala, also has a book store and a charming cafe. In addition, a feast is held here every year on the fifteenth day of the third Tibetan month.

18.Jawala Devi Temple

Overview of Jawala Ji Tenple.

Jawala Ji, a Hindu Goddess represented by a ring of perpetual flames, is the subject of the Jawala Devi Temple, which can be found in the Himachal Pradesh province’s Kangra region. The tongue of Goddess Sati is thought to have fallen where the Jawala Devi Temple is presently located, making it one of the 52 Shakti Peethas in India. The five aartis performed at Jawala Devi Temple, a unique temple without an idol, are the main draw.

The holy flames of the temple, which mysteriously burn day and night without requiring any fuel from the outside, are thought to house the Goddess. The nine forms of the goddess Durga—Mahalakshmi, Annapurna, Chandi, Hinglaj, Vindhya Vasini, Mahalakshmi, Saraswati, Ambika, and Anji Devi—are represented by the flames. Usually, the Goddess receives an offering of Rabri. 

Jwalamukhi Cave is around one kilometer away from the temple. The cave, which formerly had three openings, currently only has one, and it is now stocked with springwater.

19.Namgyalma Stupa

Overview of Namgyalma Stupa

The Namgyalma Stupa, a dome-shaped building in the village of Upari Barol, was modeled after stupas built in the third century BC under King Ashoka’s administration. The stupa, which is a site of worship and a memorial to the Tibetan troops who died fighting for their country’s independence, is thought to house the Buddha’s relics. Around the building are several prayer wheels.

The majority of Tibetans think that anything dropping into the sandstone Nagyalma Stupa is immediately cleaned because the structure is thought to have cleansing properties. It is blessed by the rain that falls on it. 

Many people go to the stupa to purge their spirits of any negative karma, and they chant prayers as the wheels outside are turned. Numerous devotees flock to the shrine to offer their prayers because of the presence of the picture of Sakyamuni Buddha inside a stupa chamber. In recognition of Gautam Buddha’s victory over the mara of death, it is also known as the “Stupa of Complete Victory” and is constructed with three circular steps.

20.Masroor Rock Cut Temple

Overview of Masroor Rock Cut Temple

Masroor Rock Cut Temple is an archaeological site that is currently in ruins and is located 32 kilometers from Kangra in Dharamsala on the Nagrota- Surian Link Road. The complex, which consists of 15 rock-cut temples erected in the Indo-Aryan architectural style, is thought to have been constructed around the eighth century (according to artifacts). 

The complex, which is devoted to the Hindu deities Shiva, Vishnu, Devi, and Saura, looks northeast towards the Dhauladhar mountain range. Experts’ theories are currently being investigated, but they contend that the building was part of a complex plan for more construction that was abandoned unfinished. The majority of the complex has been severely destroyed, mainly by earthquakes.

The Masroor Temples were cut with a Shikara out of a single monolithic rock in the Nagara style. The structure now has three entrances, but a fourth entry has obviously been left unfinished. The building’s symmetrical design and square layout were inspired by Hindu literature, and it features a sacred pool of water. 

The main temple, which has a square sanctuary, is in the center, surrounded by smaller temples in a mandala design. Vedic teachings are depicted in the elaborate internal carvings. The captivating Masroor Rock Cut Temple is surrounded by the magnificent Dhauladhar mountains and perched atop a rocky slope, where both tourists and pilgrims congregate. Additionally, it is said that bathing in the tank’s holy water helps purify your soul of sin.

21.Aghanjar Mahadev Temple

About 10 kilometers west of Palampur, on the banks of the Baner River, is the Chamunda Devi mountain top shrine, one of the 51 Shakti Peethas. It is one of Himachal’s most revered religious places.
